  Description
Helen and Alex welcome you to their award winning B&B set in 2 acres of landscaped gardens and woodland on their family farm and equestrian yard. Great Ashley Farm is in a superb location offering tranquility in some of England’s most beautiful countryside just 20 minutes east of the world heritage site of Bath and less than 2 miles from the Saxon town of Bradford on Avon with it’s tithe barn, narrow streets with quaint shops and the Kennet and Avon Canal running through. Longleat, Stonehenge, Avebury, Lacock, Castle Combe, Wells, Glastonbury & the Cotswolds are all within easy reach making this the perfect base!

As soon as you arrive at Great Ashley Farm, you will know you have found somewhere rather special. You'll find us warm and welcoming, with a lifetime’s knowledge of Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire and Bath. The house overlooks a large natural pond abundant with ducks and wildlife and beyond the extensive gardens are fields where horses, cattle and sheep graze offering a calming atmosphere, peace and tranquility.

For dinner the neighbouring village of Winsley has a 17th century village pub, The Seven Stars, with an extensive menu and was runner up in The Bath Life Pub Awards 2009. Bradford-on-Avon is within easy reach and has some really good pubs and restaurants offering excellent food. A comprehensive list can be found in each guest rooms.

Things to see and do in Wiltshire

Salisbury Cathedral      View website
For over 750 years pilgrims have come to Salisbury to seek inspiration in the glory and peace of the building and surrounding Cathedral Close.

Stonehenge      View website
One of the most famous sites in the world, Stonehenge is composed of earthworks surrounding a circular setting of large standing stones. It is at the centre of the most dense complex of Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments in England.

Magna Carta      View website
Magna Carta (Latin for "Great Charter") is one of the most celebrated documents in English history. At the time it was the solution to a political crisis in Medieval England but its importance has endured as it has become recognised as a cornerstone of liberty influencing much of the civilized world.

Westbury White Horse
This horse is located on the steep western slope of westbury Hill, below the Iron Age hill-fort of Bratton Camp. The first Westbury white horse is believed to have been cut to commemorate the victory over the Danes in the Battle of Ethandun (possibly nearby Edington) in 878AD. Local legend says that King Alfred commissioned the cutting of the horse, but had the designer beheaded soon after completion as the horse was said to be riding out of town, and should have been riding into town.

In 1966, Longleat caused a revolution in the world of zoological collections by becoming the first location outside Africa to open a drive-through Safari Park.

A tropical paradise has been created in the centre of what was until recently a desolate stretch of redundant farm fields and marshland in South Wiltshire. It is a butterfly farm, an exotic showplace, bright with colour and fluttering wings: the Studley Grange Butterfly World.
