Oldaport Farm Cottages

Accommodation Details

Oldaport is steeped in history. The farmhouse is believed to be of early 17th century origin and represents a good example of a cross-passage farmhouse. It stands where much earlier houses are known to have stood, including one mentioned in the Domesday Book owned by the de la Porte family. Adjoining the house and buildings are remains of ancient fortifications which commands two valleys. This dates back in part, it is thought to Roman times, the remainder being probably of Saxon origin. The name Oldaport is thought to be derived from this old fort but with water on both sides of this spur of land old port is equally feasible.
