The Lookout
- self-catering holiday cottage accommodation near Ipswich in the heart of Suffolk, UK.
The Lookout is located within the grounds of our family farm, Holly Farm.
The Lookout is fitted out and equipped to a high standard, with accommodation for up to 4 people and use of a cot and highchair on request.
Central heating and double glazing throughout means that it is comfortable at all times of year. Bed linen, towels and electricity are included. A well behaved dog is welcome at no extra cost – please bring own dog bed.
The front door opens into a good sized entrance hall off which is a twin bedroom and a shower/wetroom with basin and wc. On the first floor to the right of the stairs is a second twin bedroom with an e-suite bathroom with basin and wc.
The upstairs living area is open plan with comfortable seating, and French windows opening onto a small balcony with views over acres of open countryside.
The galley kitchen has cooker, fridge and microwave and is well equipped. There is a TV with DVD player, a radio and CD player. Use of a washing machine and tumble dryer on request.
Outside a large grassed area has a picnic table, use of a barbecue, and designated parking.
Holly Farm is a well-known PYO soft fruit farm, with strawberries and raspberries and a wide variety of other fruit available in season. We have attractive free range Dutch bantams.
The farm is located on the edge of Stutton village which has a lovely church, a community run shop open every day and supplying groceries, newspapers, stamps and quite a lot else. There is also a hairdressers and a veterinary practice in the village.
In one direction from Stutton is Holbrook (about 2 miles) with a good sized Co-op, PostOffice, and newsagents, while in the other direction in Tattingstone Rookery Farm Shop sells an excellent range of local produce and goods.
The Lookout is well placed for exploring this lovely part of East Anglia, enjoying numerous local activities, or simply having a restful break. The Rivers Orwell and Stour make it an ideal area for walking and birdwatching, (being tidal the rivers attract large numbers of waders and estuary birds.) The coast is nearby, as is Constable Country, Lavenham and Long Melford, and England’s smallest town, Manningtree on the River Stour.
Jimmy’s Farm is in the neighbouring village, and Woodbridge and Sutton Hoo are a short drive over the Orwell Bridge. Alton Water is within a mile of The Lookout and has hire facilities for sailing, wind surfing and bicycling, and is lovely for walking, or picnicking and watching the activities on the water!
