SEPRA Market Report - 26th June 2015

The market appears to be fairly quiet with more than enough eggs available particularly Free Range, an awful lot of people are taking an early holiday to avoid the peak seasons prices.

Last week we suggested that the next prices might be down, Irish packers have substantially reduced prices, it is a result of the over reaction to the American AI problems and demands for eggs from countries normally supplied by America to EU suppliers that caused the sudden hype in prices, now things are settling down a bit, the Americans are pulling vast tonnages of eggs out of storage to cover their home shortage, but will be requiring shell eggs and products in the future, in the long term prices will be up.

Central Egg is showing no change as the main man is on holiday next week’s prices could be interesting.
We have heard reports of shell eggs from the Ukraine in the EU, also a demand for white eggs for Israel which is normally supplied by the US, as one Continental friend said how can you tell the colour of the shell when the egg is in a tanker or a bag!

The request from Andrew Arbuckle at the end of this report should be worth doing something about as there must be vast amounts of stories linked to our industry some of which will be printable.
