A staggering £20,000 has been raised by NFU Cymru Glamorgan members jointly with Glamorgan Young Farmers Clubs for the Somerset farmers who have been seriously affected by the recent floods.

The money was raised at an event held recently at Barry Memorial Hall hosted jointly by NFU Cymru Glamorgan Chair, Abi Reader and Glamorgan YFC Chair, Beth John. Entertainment was provided by Wick and Maendy YFC clubs and the Glamorgan YFC Choir.

Abi Reader said, “The night was a great success and an excellent opportunity for farmers and young farmers to get together. The generosity people showed that evening was incredible and a good demonstration of farmers and their supporting industries standing together. It was a lot of hard work to organise but it was well worth the effort.”

Aside from the stage entertainment, guests enjoyed a delicious knife and fork supper. The auction raised £8,000, with the prizes gratefully donated by both local and national businesses. The raffle was equally as successful and raised £2,000 and a significant donation was received from Glamorgan NFU county funds.
