The successful candidates have been announced for the 2016 Nuffield Farming Scholarships.
The 18 Scholars have been selected from a strong group of high calibre applicants on the basis that they will ‘think outside the box’ and lead positive change in farming, food, horticulture and rural sectors, as well as inspiring passion and potential in people along the way.
“Nuffield Farming believes we have selected candidates that will shape the future of farming and related sectors,” says Mike Vacher, Nuffield Farming Scholarships Trust director.
Each Scholar will start their Nuffield journey at the 2015 Nuffield Farming Conference where they will be presented with their official Scholarship at an award ceremony. The three day event will be held in Belfast at the Europa Hotel from the 25 to 27 November 2015.
Following the Conference, each scholar will start their studies that will last for an 18 month period. “They will be encouraged to travel for at least eight weeks to investigate their topic and explore global practices,” adds Mike.
Nuffield Farming Scholarships give invaluable opportunities enabling the individual to dig deeper and take their chosen topic to the next level, while providing UK agricultural and horticulture sectors with new knowledge and innovative thinking.
“This year we have a wide range of showcasing study topics. Scholars will be sharing their findings along their journey and their final reports will be published in July 2017,” says Mike.
The 2016 Nuffield Farming Scholars are; Thomas Allison, Robin Asquith, Alexander Brewster, James Chapman, Richard Counsell, Andrew Gillett, Robert Gray, Richard Hinchliffe, Anna Jones, Deborah McConnell, Robert Mercer, Robert Moore, Rufus Pilgrim, Jan Redpath, James Smith, Ben Taylor-Davies, Peter Wiggins-Davies and Rebecca Willson.
