Police are appealing for information after 30,000 bees and three queen bees were stolen from an Anglesey farm in Wales.

They were seized from three hives on the outskirts of Cemaes Bay, some time between 30 July and 4 August.

It comes after a bee bandit recently struck in the Conwy Valley, taking four queen bees from hives, worth £75 each. The thieves also put out ‘bait hives’ in the hope of luring other keepers’ swarms away.

Owner Katie Hayward had spent five years breeding the bees to be “calm” and experts believe the suspect must have known about the colony and have competence in beekeeping.
