TV and stand-up comedian Mark Watson charmed guests with his hilarious comedy when he presented and entertained at the British Turkey Awards 2015, which took place at The Dorchester on 24th September.

Mark, along with snooker legend Willie Thorne and the 250-strong crowd from the British turkey industry, helped raise an incredible £10,470 for the children’s medical research charity Sparks.

The British Turkey Awards is an annual event, and has supported Sparks with a fund-raising raffle and live auction for the past 12 years. The evening celebrated the very best of British turkey products, with awards handed out to farmers, supermarkets and catering companies. Asda won the Retailer of the Year award for their great range of fresh everyday turkey cuts.

Celebrity patron of Sparks, Willie Thorne, helped to create some furious bidding in the room during the auction, which included some luxury prizes such as a Martin Johnson signed England rugby shirt, a signed Chris Froome Yellow Jersey, a holiday to British Virgin Islands and a table for 10 at the Sparks Rugby Legends dinner.

Paul Kelly, chairman of the British Turkey Federation said: “Once again we are very proud to be supporting Sparks and delighted to have raised over £10,000 for them. Over the years that totals over £100,000 for such a well-deserved cause in the research and work they do to help ensure babies and children have a fit and healthy start to life.”

David Barker, Director of Events at Sparks, said: “We’re so grateful to the British Turkey Awards for all their help over the years. We’re currently funding approximately 40 pioneering research projects around the UK, this is only possible thanks to our amazing supporters. We hope to continue our partnership with the British Turkey Awards for many more years so we can continue to help more children through our research.”
