A farmer’s most valuable resource?

Ask someone what they think a farmer’s most valuable resource is, and you’re likely to get a variety of answers. Quite a few people will say soil, which if you’ve got your ear to the ground, would be a fair shout; however a few may say time.

It is this concept of time and the ‘saving’ of it that interests Muddy Boots Software.

“Margins are being increasingly squeezed, with that comes increasing pressure to cover more acres with fewer hands,” says Jeff Goulding Business Development Director at Muddy Boots.

“And, when that’s all done for the day,” he adds.

“The modern farmer can then look forward to an evening of paperwork, forms and emails.”

Jeff explains that people come to Muddy Boots having identified the huge time savings cloud-based farm management Apps now offer.

“The value of being able to instantly share important field data with an agronomist just by tapping the screen is really starting to resonate with customers we speak to.

“We’ve also seen a much larger demand for our system to be compatible with smartphones as well as tablets - evidence that the farming community are relying much more on mobile devices, and in particular, their phones.”

Saying that time is a famer’s most valuable resource may be true, however it might be more accurate to say that time is everyone’s most valuable resource and farmers are no different to the rest of us; we’re all living more hectic lives and expect an instant feed of information; we all want to make the most of our free time and technology is facilitating that in all walks of life – farming included.
