Australia-Dairy Farmers feel betrayed.

DAIRY FARMERS FEEL BETRAYED.

The Western Australian Farmers Federation, have accused milk processor Fonterra of betraying milk producers by reducing the price of milk by 20%.

Normally the processors raise the milk price during the summer months as less milk is produced.

Phil Depiazzi, from the federation says that farmers believed they were at last seeing a turn around in the industry, after 4 very tough years of drought, coupled with the high feed costs up until October 2008.

Phil said " Since de-regulation I guess we have been doing it tough and at last based on projected prices we were getting some reward and making money".

A spokesman from Fonterra said, " Its naïve to think that we’re immune from the global commodity prices. Its disappointing, we feel that we must cut prices now to ensure long term sustainability of our business
