Dairy cows.

2,000 Holstein cows were exported from Portland last week bound for Russia.

The cattle were secured from dairy farms in Victoria and consisted of young first calf cows and heifers.

The prices were exceptional, as dairy cattle are currently at a premium and it is widely believed that there are more cattle to go the same way. This makes a total of 5,000 head exported since November.

Russia is trying to build up its farming industry, particularly in dairy, pork and poultry production
