Australia's best steak

Australian Agricultural Company Limited’s (AAco) flagship Wagyu brand Master Kobe has been crowned ’Australia’s Best Steak’ and ’Champion of Show’ at this week’s Royal Queensland Food and Wine Show.

After first winning the Wagyu Class Award, Master Kobe went on to be judged against three other Branded Beef Awards in order to win ’Australia’s Best Steak’ and ’Champion of Show’.

David Farley, AAco Chief Executive and Managing Director said constant innovations and a focus on quality through the supply chain are behind this success and the increasing demand for their beef internationally.

"Using our world-class DNA sampling and archiving system, we have worked with Pfizer Animal Genetics to trace the bloodline of the exact piece of meat that was awarded this coveted prize," said Mr Farley.

"Use of this type of technology across our entire production process ensures our Master Kobe continues to be prized all around the world.

"In addition, with the exceptional bloodlines of our herd we have been able to consistently redefine the international luxury beef market, setting new benchmarks for tenderness and depth of flavour," he said.

AAco is renowned for having Australia’s largest herd of Wagyu, comprising the most highly credentialed full-blood Japanese Black Wagyu ever to leave Japan. AAco has more than 30,000 head of Wagyu in the Darling Downs in southern Queensland.

"This prize reflects the leading position we have been able to take across all of our Wagyu products including our Darling Downs Wagyu and Kobe Cuisine," said Mr Farley.

Mr Farley acknowledged the contribution of Pat Dempsey, AAco’s General Manager Beef Group and Greg Gibbons, General Manager Farming and Feedlots in achieving a consistently high standard across all AAco’s products which has resulted in this award.
