An award-winning farmer uses a novel way to keep his pigs happy – playing them classical music.

Farmer Paul Howland, from Beccles, Suffolk, is a British producer who supplies Waitrose.

And, wait for it, he says his herd's favourite radio station is Classic FM.

... or would they rather prefer hip-hop?

Yes, that's right, the pigs listen to Classic FM.

However, it is unclear whether their preference is for Ludpig van Beethoven or Styovsky.

Speaking about playing the radio to his pigs, Paul Howland, who is known to go above and beyond for his pig's welfare, says: "It calms them down.

"I think they get used to noise so they don’t notice so much if people come into the shed.

"And so they’re generally happier. A lad helping me used to put the radio on [dance music station] Kiss or something like that," he says.

"Whereas I used to put it on Classic FM. It was a bit of a joke, and it ended up with me going in the middle of the night and super-gluing the tuning nob to Classic FM!"
