Brazil-Exports to China.

BRAZIL-EXPORTS TO CHINA.

The Chinese authorities have published a list of 22 chicken abattoirs permitted to directly sell their chicken meat to China, the Brazilian Agriculture Ministry said in Brasilia.

The measure was published in a memo from China’s General Administration for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ), by the Chinese veterinary service, on 30 January.

Brazilian exports of chicken meat to China are currently carried out via Hong Kong, but the agreement signed with Brazilian exporters means that teh product can be delivered directly to ports in China.

It is estimated that, initially, the potential for export could total 100,000 tonnes per year.

The approved abattoirs are in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Minas Gerais.

The approval of the refrigeration units was given at the beginning of December, when Kroetz met with the deputy minister of AQSI, Wei Chuanzhong, with a view to re-launching the sale of chicken directly to China and ratify the inspection, quarantine and health protocol for pork meat.
