British Egg Week takes place from October 10-17 this year, with the theme ‘Put an Egg On It’ set to encourage consumers to experiment with eating eggs in more unusual ways.

As part of the celebrations, British Lion eggs is staging an egg themed street food takeover at leading venue Hawker House in London, where street food chef Seb Holmes, owner of Farang London, will be serving a collection of modern Thai street food inspired egg dishes from the Put An Egg On It stand.

Dishes include Egg Topped Smoked Pork Belly Laab, a minced free range pork belly dish with smoky garlic, lime and chilli dressing, Asian herbs and a wok fried egg.

The hashtag #PutAnEggOnIt has been created to run in conjunction with the campaign and inspire interaction from consumers, caterers, food manufacturers and retailers on social media.

Andrew Joret, British Egg Industry Council Chairman, said: "British Egg Week is the perfect time to encourage customers to choose eggs, and the street food theme gives us a great platform to highlight how suitable they are for modern lifestyles.

"Research shows that eggs are now seen by consumers as a healthy, nutrition packed and versatile food.

"Highlighting this on point of sale and menus is a great way to boost sales during the week, and longer term."
