Dairy Council makes two appointments

The Dairy Council has announced the appointments of Dr Anne Mullen as Director of Nutrition and Lydia Cooper as their new Nutrition Scientist.

Dr Anne Mullen has been a lecturer in Nutrition at King's College London since 2008 and prior to this was a Research Fellow in the Nutrition and Public Health Interventions Research Unit at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She holds a PhD in Nutrigenomics, a Diploma in Human Nutrition and Dietetics and a BSc in Human Nutrition and Dietetics.

The Dairy Council’s Chairman Sandy Wilkie said: “Anne is a very welcome addition to The Dairy Council team and brings with her a wealth of experience particularly in the area of public health. The nutritional benefits of dairy are fundamental to the work of the organisation and Anne’s academic background will be extremely useful in forthcoming research projects funded by DairyCo and managed by The Dairy Council.”

Mr Wilkie also welcomed the appointment of a new Nutrition Scientist to The Dairy Council. Lydia Cooper, a dairy farmer’s daughter, will be responsible for developing The Dairy Council's public Health Outreach Programme, especially in the area of weight management and sports nutrition.

Lydia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition and a Master’s degree in Sports and Exercise Nutrition from the University of Ulster. Before joining The Dairy Council, she focused on designing and delivering a diet and fitness management programme tailored to the needs of young athletes and members of leisure centres.
