Welsh farmers will have the opportunity to hear the views of the EU Agricultural Commissioner, Phil Hogan and UKIP Member of the European Parliament, Stuart Agnew, when they visit Wales on Tuesday, 10 May 2016.

Commissioner Hogan will share a platform with UKIP MEP, Stuart Agnew, who also sits on the European Parliament’s Agricultural and Rural Affairs Committee, at the event and both will discuss and debate the EU Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and Welsh farming ahead of the in / out referendum taking place on Thursday, 23 June.

The event is being supported by NFU Cymru, CLA and FUW and an event spokesperson said: "Given the huge importance of Europe as a market for our produce, and the Common Agricultural Policy as a major support structure for our iconic food and farming industries, the debate on the issue of EU membership is of great significance to every farmer within Wales.

"The CAP and its impact on Welsh farming is hugely topical at present and the chance to hear what will undoubtedly be very different views from these two hugely influential figures will be absolutely fascinating.

"I would urge all farmers and those with an interest in agriculture to attend the debate and have their say on the issue."

The event will take place at Bishops Meadow, Hay Road, Brecon, from 7.30pm and all farmers are invited. John Davies, the RWAS Chairman will chair the meeting.
