East Yorkshire Free Range Egg company Elliotts Eggs' support for Dove House Hospice's Easter fundraising helped to raise over £8,000 to date.

With more donations to come in, the hospice is hopeful of reaching its £10,000 target.

The Bewholme based family business chose the hospice as its charity of the year and in so doing became Dove House Hospice's first ever official sponsor for their Annual Easter Egg Appeal.

During the appeal, workplaces, offices, schools, pubs and community groups in East Yorkshire displayed one of 150 chocolate eggs, each weighing a kilo, that were then raffled to raise valuable funds for the hospice.

Speaking of the charity partnership, Fundraising Coordinator Jethro Shearring said: "We were incredibly grateful for the support of Elliotts Eggs, who ensured that we could take our Easter Egg appeal to the next level.

"Their sponsorship allowed us to offset the costs involved and also maximised our promotion.

"We are totally reliant on the support of organisations such as Elliott Eggs to ensure that we reach our annual target of £6.7 million.

"Their contribution both financially and in helping to source new hosts for our eggs was hugely significant."

A 'fantastic total'

Elliotts Eggs Marketing Manager Lucie Stephenson was also delighted with the outcome of the partnership.

She added: "We were delighted to be able to support such a worthy charity.

"Dove House Hospice is really close to our hearts with our own family members receiving care from the Dove House team and this inspired us to give something back.

"It was fantastic to see the appeal come together to be such a success with a fantastic total raised for the hospice."

Elliotts Eggs was launched in 2007 after the Elliott family spotted a gap in the market to supply farm fresh free range eggs to businesses throughout East and North Yorkshire.

Having researched their idea, they commissioned a packing station to grade and pack the free range eggs that are produced on the family farm.

Today, they supply eggs both locally and nationwide.
