Easy-to-use, nil milk-withhold antibiotic returns

Thanks to the return of Ceporex Injection, dairy farmers once again have access to an ultra-convenient, ready-to-use, nil milk-withhold antibiotic that can be injected into the muscle - a significant advantage over other antibiotics.

"Independent trials and practical experience have shown the value of Ceporex Injection in treating metritis, foot infections, wounds and abscesses, as well as its use as a supplement to intra-mammary therapy in the treatment of septicaemic mastitis. Consequently, its return will be welcomed by vets and their farmer clients," points out Stewart Hall from manufacturers Schering-Plough Animal Health.

Stewart Hall also says that compared with normal milk withhold antibiotics, using Ceporex Injection means the saving in discarded milk alone is worth around £5 per cow per day for an animal yielding around 30 litres per day.

For further information on the antibiotic and its value as a treatment for various conditions, farmers should contact their veterinary surgeon.
