Egg product exports show massive increases

Latest DEFRA figures show a massive increase in the export of egg products for human consumption. From July 2012 the total amount of egg product exported was over 7.5 times more than the normal monthly average and has kept that trend throughout the following five months. The figures which are supplied to DEFRA from HM Customs and Excise show that the majority of egg was exported to France but may then have been moved on to other countries.

This data may have something to do with a decision made by Sainsburys recently which was to use British Egg Products in their Italian meals. As I understand the eggs were exported to Italy (from France) used in their Italian pasta dishes and then imported back to the UK.
