Embrace change to boost profits, urges Farm & Rural Business Event

Farmers must embrace change and look at innovative ways to boost profits, according to supporters of the Farm & Rural Business Event.

The new event, which will be held in March 2016, is a must for anyone who is serious about improving their bottom line, with professional business advice, inspirational seminars and groundbreaking technology on offer.

“Time and again research has shown that the key attributes of the UK’s most profitable farmers are business focus, attention to detail, and a willingness to adapt,” says Alice Bell, Head of Technical Events at Grandstand Stoneleigh Events. “British agriculture is going through a difficult time at the moment, and it is those farmers who think outside the box and plan ahead who will become the successful businesses of tomorrow.”

Farm & Rural Business is the only dedicated farming event to focus on core business issues, helping farmers to identify practical ways to improve profits and grow for the future. “Support for the event has been overwhelming, with trade stand bookings ranging from Agrovista and John Deere to Old Mill accountants and Rural Broadband,” she adds.

AHDB will be supporting the event and the Ideas Exchange Café, which seeks to connect visitors with likeminded farmers and experts. “One of AHDB’s roles is to help farmers to improve productivity, cost management and resource use efficiency,” says chief executive Jane King.

“We really want to help UK farming improve its performance and are delighted to be working with Farm & Rural Business to help farmers become more competitive and sustainable.”

Fresh Start Land Enterprise Centre CIC will be previewing its new farm business matching service at the event, and will be helping to connect entrepreneurs with investors, showcasing different styles of collaborative ventures in the Farm & Rural Business Den. “At Fresh Start we are dedicated to providing business information and support for entrepreneurs and established businesses in the land-based sector,” says managing director Alison Rickett.

“Farmers are increasingly using joint ventures to marry up young enthusiasm with older experience, and both the Business Den and our new matching service will help them to identify appropriate business partners and working structures to take forward.”

The events team are delighted with the level of demand from the industry, says Miss Bell. “It is clear that a dedicated business event is just what British farming needs, and the breadth of expertise on offer means there really will be something for everyone.”
