Evans Vanodine win Queen's Award for Enterprise

Evans Vanodine is delighted to announce today that it has been named as a winner of a Queen’s Award for Enterprise – recognised as Britain’s most coveted prize for business success. The award has been received in the category of International Trade, which is recognition of our outstanding overseas sales growth over the last three years.

The company currently exports to 72 countries worldwide, with a further 10 countries serviced by licensed manufacturing units overseas. Over the last three years new sales territories have been added, such as New Zealand and South Africa, with the latter noted as being particularly promising.

Evans Vanodine is a family owned company which has been developing and manufacturing consistent, efficient and cost effective products for the professional user for over 95 years. Its products cover an extensive range of cleaning and hygiene applications for industrial, janitorial, food process and animal health sectors. It is one of very few companies manufacturing products which give hygiene security from the farm to the fork.

Based in Lancashire, in the North West of England, the company employs over 150 staff. It has built a reputation based on innovation and commitment to research and development, ensuring a flow of new and improved formulations is constantly being added to its wide range of products. Its in-house laboratories enable the company to deliver quality and consistency at every stage of the production process and the company has achieved accreditation by the British Standards Institution under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. The Microbiology laboratory is the longest standing non-governmental UKAS accredited lab and is approved to test our disinfectants in-house against European Standard test methods. This ensures products are fit for purpose and that bactericidal claims are substantiated, with test profiles available to customers. Experienced chemists and microbiologists are always available to share their expertise and help with customer queries and problems.

Evans Vanodine bases its overseas sales strategy around expansion of its distributor network and the company uses international exhibitions and trade shows, along with multi lingual packaging and materials, to augment this expansion. Distributors attend training courses hosted by Evans and are equipped in terms of product knowledge and positioning so they are able to develop their sales. They are further supported by national and international Evans’ sales managers.

The Queen’s Award for Enterprise recognises outstanding achievements by UK companies in three categories: International Trade, Innovation and Sustainable Development. The awards are announced annually by HM The Queen with a special presentation made to each company by The Lord-Lieutenant of the County at an official ceremony. Representatives from each winning business are also invited to attend a special reception at Buckingham Palace. Previous winners include Jaguar Land Rover, JCB, Dunlop, Johnson & Johnson Medical and the Tangle Teezer, as featured on Dragon’s Den.

A company announcement was made to all staff by Chairman Mr Derek Evans and Mr Peter Thompson, International Sales Manager who said “The winning of a Queen’s award is a great honour for Evans Vanodine and is a testament to the efforts of the entire company to be the best in our field. Development of our International business is an essential cornerstone on which the future of the business is built and to be recognised with this award is confirmation that we are successful in our efforts to operate on a global scale”.

The business, despite its size, is still essentially a family one; decisions are quick and management is always accessible and open to all discussions which affect the business. Together with dedicated staff throughout the company, this will help to ensure continued success for Evans Vanodine and its customers for years to come.
