Farmer cut free from baler after being trapped for six hours

A farmer from Shropshire had to endure a six hour ordeal after being trapped in a hay baler. He was cut free by firefighters inside the machine in what was described as a terrifying farm accident.

The farmer captured his legs in the baler and suffered a cardiac arrest as he was freed.

Paramedics managed to revive the man, aged in his 60s, at the scene and was promptly taken to hospital for further treatment.

The farmer suffered serious crush injuries in the incident and medics described his condition as “very serious” and “life-changing”.

The incident unfurled after emergency services were called to Lower Wood, Church Stretton, at around 7.30pm on Saturday (26 September).
