Farmers urged to install small scale renewable technologies quickly

Nottinghamshire-based Spectrum Energy Systems is urging farmers and landowners thinking of "going green" to take advantage of cheaper energy and generate new income streams to act quickly.

Director Paul Scholey and his team are exhibiting at this week's Cereals 2015 http://www.cerealsevent.co.uk at Boothby Graffoe near Lincoln to provide visitors with free advice and information about the benefits of installing solar PV arrays and wind turbines; renewable technologies made more affordable thanks to Government incentives including the Feed-in-tariff and Renewable Heat Incentive.

"Uncertainty over the long-term future of subsidies means it's important for farmers to act quickly before changes are implemented. There's no doubt that renewables are here to stay, but it's still unclear what the Government's intentions are especially in regard to large-scale wind and solar farms," says Paul. "We've been visiting shows in Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as Cereals 2015 this week as part of our on-going commitment to demystify renewables, and provide free advice based on our extensive experience in the sector."

Spectrum Energy Systems was established in 2011, initially supplying and installing solar PV to the domestic market, and quickly evolving to become a specialist in supplying and installing solar PV arrays and wind turbines in a range of sizes for clients including farms, schools, businesses, communities and domestic sites.

"Our focus is very much on finding the right technology and the right financing options for each of our clients. Roof solar projects for farms across the UK continue to keep our experienced team busy, and there's also growing interest in smaller wind turbines now that the technology is becoming more affordable. In some cases we've managed to help clients cut electricity bills by up to 75 per cent," says Paul, who will be on Stand 254 in the Renewables area of Cereals 10-11 June.

Paul says confidence in the renewables sector is at an all-time high and demand for Spectrum's services is on the increase, especially from the farming community where incomes are under extreme pressure. Consequently Spectrum is making the move into manufacturing wind turbines in the UK, in a bid to provide a quality engineered product at a competitive price and to bring skilled engineering jobs to Nottinghamshire.

Under an exclusive agreement with Pioneer Wincon, one of the leading wind turbine manufacturers in India, this summer Spectrum will commence manufacture of its WTG P250kW turbine, a well-engineered, highly durable and reliable turbine with in excess of 20 years' service around the world.

"With the launch of our own British-manufactured P250kW wind turbine in the Nottingham area we'll be looking for several sites. We're encouraging anyone who thinks they might have a suitable location to come along to see us at Cereals 2015 and discuss the possibilities," said Paul.

Spectrum is also the main UK agent for Italian company ESPE's technologically superior FX range of wind turbines, ideally suited to Britain's unpredictable weather conditions.

"We work with some of the industry's most highly-rated renewables systems which gives our clients the confidence to decide on the products that best suit their site, budget and needs," added Paul.
