Farming organisations meet Aldi management

Following on from the UK farming unions & other organisations (FFA, TFA, National Young Farmers & CLA, RABDF) summit earlier in the month, representatives of farming organisations today met with Aldi's senior management team.

Discussions focused on Aldi's commitments to support British farming at this difficult time.

Whether that's their extensive use of the Red Tractor logo, their domestic sourcing strategies, their commitment to the NFU’s Fruit and Veg Pledge or efforts to build transparency and fairness with suppliers, farmers will recognise the positives that are already in place.

In addition, the recent decision on minimum farmgate pricing for milk underlines their awareness of on-farm production costs and the long term sustainability of their supply base. Aldi also outlined their insistence that additional money for liquid milk must find its way to primary producers.

Aldi’s commitments have developed alongside the well-documented growth of their business. The organisations trust that Aldi’s commitments to UK agriculture will continue to evolve.
