First Milk has announced a reduction for May 2016 milk price due to ' worsening market mechanisms'.

Paul Flanagan, First Milk's external relations & membership director commented: "The market has continued to worsen.

"As a result of falls in the market mechanism that governs our returns the following price changes need to be implemented."

The May price changes are as follows:

• -0.66ppl for four creamery milk pools plus the Northern England pool

• -0.61ppl for the Scottish Mainland & Bute pools

• -0.72ppl for Midlands & East Wales pool
