Full house expected for Welsh Government Minister’s visit to NFU Cymru at Anglesey Show
A good turn-out is likely when a Welsh Government Minister visits NFU Cymru at the Anglesey Show next week.
Alun Davies, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and European Programmes starts the day when he is scheduled to attend the NFU Cymru stand on Tuesday 9 August for a question and answer session between 10am and 11am.
Mr Davies’ visit kicks off a series of other significant meetings on the day at NFU Cymru’s stand, beginning at 11:45am when farmers are to meet with National Grid officials to discuss the future of electricity transmission across Anglesey.
At 2pm, Ieuan Wyn Jones, Plaid Cymru Leader and Assembly Member for Ynys Môn, will visit the stand, followed at 2:30pm by Antoinette Sandbach, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Rural Affairs and Welsh Assembly Member for North Wales.
NFU Cymru county chairman Dewi Jones said, "The fact that our democratically elected members are keen to visit us at the Anglesey Show is clear testament to the importance of agriculture to our island as well as national economy.
"In addition, although we are well aware of the significance of electricity generation in terms of local employment and the economic benefits of continuing to develop Ynys Môn as an energy island, thought needs to be given on how the additional electricity is transmitted."
NFU Cymru President Ed Bailey will also be present on the stand to meet members.
