World leading farm scale wind turbine manufacturer Gaia-Wind has appointed its first reselling partner in Japan. Green-Power Corporation, based in Kamata, Toky o will join forces to deliver distributed wind to the Japanese market. The news comes as the Japanese Industry Department (METI) announces the continuance of the FiT for small wind at JPY55/kWh and 16% cuts for solar.

Johnnie Andringa, Gaia-Wind CEO said:

“We are delighted to be working with Green-Power Corp who bring great experience and ambition to our efforts. Key to Gaia-Wind’s export effort has been the careful research of potential markets, the cultivation of local partners and potential partners and a willingness to work with them to overcome the inevitable obstacle and hindrances to market penetration.

The recent achievement of local certification of the G-W 133 turbine for the Japanese market involved all of the principles outlined above. With a government committed to supporting distributed energy, the most attractive sub 20kW FiT in the world and a market size 1.6 times that of the UK, our work with Green-Power Corp in Japan will enable us to double in size in 2015.”

Headquartered in Glasgow, Scotland, Gaia-Wind was recorded as the fastest growing private company in Scotland and the eighth fastest in the UK, in the 2012 Sunday Times Fastrack 100 Report. The company won the Scottish Green Energy Exports award for 2014.

The Gaia-Wind 133 small wind turbine is designed to generate high levels of energy and is ideally suited to farms, rural homes and businesses and organisations with significant land banks looking for reliable diversified revenue from resale of energy. The Gaia-Wind 133 turbine is the first UK product of this capacity to achieve the vital Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) accreditation, an internationally recognised quality assurance scheme, and is the “best in class” product in the market.
