H&H Chartered Surveyors announce new Associate Directors

H&H Land and Property have announced the promotion and appointment of four new Associate Directors. These are Farm Business Management Consultant Andrew Jamieson and Chartered Surveyors Helen Russell, Craig Brough and Thomas Armstrong. All have been with the company for a number of years and all characterise the strengths and ethos of the company. In their new positions they will work alongside Directors Tim Parsons, David Quayle and Peter Hull to support the continued growth strategy of H&H Land and Property across the North of England and Scotland.

Part of the H&H Group PLC, H&H Land and Property includes chartered surveyors, estate agents, valuers, planning and renewables specialists and farm business consultants. In recent years the company has strengthened its position within the industry and from its offices in Carlisle, Durham, they now employ over 40 members of staff who also work out of Kirkby Stephen and Middleton-in-Teesdale. The appointment of the new Associate Directors endorses the core values of the company, with all four displaying extensive experience and knowledge and their own specialist areas.

After working for H&H Land and Property during a placement year of his degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management at Harper Adams University College, Thomas Armstrong aged 27 from Milburn near Penrith returned to the company following his graduation. Based at the Carlisle, Kirkby Stephen and Middleton-in-Teesdale offices, his appointment as Associate Director gives him responsibility over landlord and tenant, estate management and English property sales.

A member of the RICS and a Fellow of the CAAV, Tom has a range of experience in estate management, property sales and lettings, planning and valuation. He has kept his roots firmly in the agricultural life, regularly returning to help his parents on the family farm. His deep understanding of the rural economy shows in his passion for the countryside and his dedication to helping it thrive. Tom is proud to be a part of such a progressive organisation and is enthusiastic about moving the company forward.

Having been a part of H&H since 2008, Craig Brough has become an integral part of the company, specialising in advising on farm finance and management including single farm payment schemes, environmental stewardships and landlord & tenant matters. Craig also undertakes a large amount of valuation work for both secured lending and capital taxation including probate. Coming from a farming and agricultural background, Craig still manages his family’s sheep flock and works with the dairy herd. He is a former County Chairman for the Cumbria Federation of Young Farmers Clubs. This lends Craig further expertise in addition to his qualifications in RICS & CAAV. Craig is based in Carlisle and is responsible for compulsory purchase, utility claims, and property sales.

Craig, 28, says: “I am looking to being part of the future of H&H Land and Property as we expand and grow. There is a large amount of infrastructure work to take place in Cumbria in the coming years and there will therefore be a lot happening. Our aim is to work closely with clients to minimise disruption caused by these works.”

Andrew Jamieson, 34, has nearly 20 years’ experience in the agricultural industry and in 2011 was elected a member of the British Institute of Agricultural Consultants. Graduating from Harper Adams University College in 2004 with a BSc Hons in Agriculture Land and Farm Management, Andrew subsequently completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Surveying from the University of Reading. Now specialising in farm business management, Farm Budgeting, Management Accounts, Farm Business Advice, Basic Payment Scheme, and grant applications, Andrew has a practical approach to farm management, having worked on a farms for 12 years, before moving into Farm Business Advice.

He was raised on a rural Northumbrian Estate, which he credits as the source of his love of country pursuits including Shooting, fishing and walking. He now lives in Cumbria with his wife Jen, but travels throughout the North to meet and deal with clients.

Commenting Andrew said: “The restructuring of H&H Land and Property creates opportunities for the business to develop and evolve in order to offer greater expertise and increase services to our clients. We have a strong foundation and a highly experienced team, and I am pleased to be part of a company which is keen to constantly improve and develop in order to keep pace with a changing Agricultural industry.”

Helen Russell, aged 31 is based at the Durham office and is now responsible for valuations, witness reports and taxations. Having obtained a Post Graduate Diploma from the University of Reading, Helen went on to work for Nicholson and Weston before joining H&H in 2012. Her extensive experience and knowledge are reflected in her status as a Member of RICS and Fellow of CAAV. Born and raised in Durham, her appointment as Associate Director sees her return to her hometown. Helen is ‘thrilled to be a part of a company with such strong values and looking forward to helping my local community thrive’.

In a joint statement, the new Associate Directors described themselves as: “Very excited to take up this new position and to help drive the business forward as part of the management team.”
