Hat trick for Sellers at countryside live

It was a hat trick for Phil and Sharon Sellers who took the Supreme Beef Championship at this weekend’s Countryside Live at the Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate. (Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 October)

The Sellers, who made the journey up from Belper, Derbys, took the championship title with Lady Big Bucks, a British Blue cross heifer. Earlier it took the British Blue championship and was also the Champion Heifer. The overall reserve was the show’s reserve heifer and reserve British Blue animal - Dylan Hughes’s Cheeky Girl.

Judge Michael Alford said it had been a tremendous show, and described Lady Big Bucks as "a superb show beast".

In the sheep section, Messrs R Hall & Son of Dalston, Carlisle showed the Supreme Champion Pair of Butcher’s Lambs with their Beltex, with Hannah Brown of Bedale, North Yorkshire, standing reserve with her Beltex crosses.

Countryside Live, the Yorkshire Agricultural Society’s sister event, was a record breaker with record cattle entries and a waiting list, and also record crowds through the gate – 10,221. This is the event’s eighth year. Dates for next year are: Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 October, 2011.
