Henry Robinson elected CLA President

Henry Robinson, who farms 1,000 acres in Gloucestershire and previously served as the Association’s Deputy President and Vice-President, was elected as the new President at the CLA's Annual General Meeting, held at Kensington Town Hall, London.

“It is an honour and a privilege to be elected President of the CLA," Robinson said.

“I follow a long and distinguished line of CLA presidents and would like to pay tribute to their work and, in particular, the great contribution made by my immediate predecessor, Harry Cotterell.

“I look forward to the next two years with some trepidation but also with enthusiasm and excitement. A General Election and European elections will take place during my period in office, providing a wealth of lobbying opportunities for the Association.”

Retiring CLA President Harry Cotterell said: “I have greatly enjoyed my time as President and an Officer of the CLA and know I am leaving the Association in the very capable hands of Henry Robinson whom I congratulate on his election to President.”

From November 2011 to 14 November 2013, Henry served as the CLA’s Deputy President, chairing the CLA Board. From 2009-2011 Henry was the CLA’s Vice-President and chaired the Association’s Policy Committee.

He has managed farmland since 1978, and currently farms 1,000 acres in Gloucestershire on which he grows wheat and oilseed rape.
