Holme Farmed Venison, the naturally reared venison specialist based in Sherburn-in-Elmet, today appoints Tim Bastable as its Procurement Manager.

Tim will take charge of the procurement process for the company, including sourcing stock - both as finished animals for processing, and as calves for growing.

Tim has a strong career background in agriculture, spanning 20 years, and joins Holme Farmed Venison from Venico, a farmer-run venison cooperative.

Tim has also worked as Head of Primestock Meat Strategy at Harrison and Hetherington auctioneers, and as Group Procurement Manager for Midland Meat Packers.

Tim, who studied agriculture at Shuttleworth College comments: "I’m looking forward to working with Holme Farmed Venison, especially as they now have the roundhouse facility, which helps to raise the herds ethically".

Nigel Sampson, Managing Director at Holme Farmed Venison, adds: "Tim is joining us at a good time. The market for Venison remains strong and it has withstood the recession very well. We have just launched our innovative and ethical roundhouse building and we are now able to take more stock at each stage. We wish Tim every success in his new role and welcome him to the team".

He continues: "Importantly, Tim will also be maintaining our use of the Quality Assurance scheme, with the help of EFSIS (European Food Safety and Inspection Service)".
