Innovis launches online ram auction

The UK’s first online ram auction to be developed by a sheep breeding company will be launched by Innovis at the Livestock Event, held at The NEC, Birmingham on Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 July.

The new facility will enable producers to make a desktop selection of performance recorded rams for specific performance traits, which are suited to their management systems and price band.

The auction has a similar operational mode with tick boxes to other online product purchasing system. After selection has been made, the ram moves in to an on line holding pen and the buyer is required to pay a 50% deposit. Innovis delivers within a pre-determined timescale depending up on the buyer’s chosen collection hub located throughout mainland Britain and balance of payment is made upon delivery. Farm gate delivery can be arranged.

Innovis’ Dewi Jones comments: “We are looking forward to extending our buying options of Innovis performance recorded rams from farmgate and auction to online. Not only will it provide busy farmers with the opportunity to buy their rams from their farm office, but it is also intended to move the industry forward on to a more professional footing whereby they make their purchasing decisions on trait data rather than individual choice.”

Innovis on line ram auction is open from 8 July to midnight on 26 July.
