Young people keen to get ahead in the sheep sector are encouraged to attend a free one-day event in Gloucestershire on Wednesday 12th November.
The day will cover a wide range of topics of interest to young sheep producers, whether they have a long family history of farming or are starting as a new entrant. Speakers will look at different routes into the sheep sector while the interactive afternoon session will look at the opportunities and threats facing young sheep keepers and what can be done to tackle the barriers to success.
Joanne Briggs of the NSA Next Generation project says: “NSA and RASE have brought together a great line-up of speakers, including sheep producers operating entirely on rented land, farm owners, shepherds and share farmers. Attendees can also find out about applying to be a NSA Next Generation Ambassador, as well as meeting the current Ambassadors, who are all young, ambitious and running impressive sheep enterprises of their own.”
Charlotte Johnston, RASE Technical Specialist – Livestock, says: “For a young person interested in developing a career in the industry, sharing ideas and meeting like-minded people is of upmost importance. We hope that attendees will be encouraged and inspired from listening to the speakers and fellow young producers.”
