Egg lovers across Shropshire will be egg-static as LJ Fairburn & Son, one of the UK’s largest egg producers and packers, is launching a Shropshire brand - Heal’s Shropshire Free Range Eggs.

Fairburn’s are partnering with one of their Shropshire based producers, Heal Farms, to launch a Shropshire brand of free range eggs which will be sold in 20 ASDA stores across the county from 22nd June 2015.

A Collaborative Partnership – Fairburn’s and Heal Farms

LJ Fairburn & Son Ltd is a family farming business and now one of the largest egg producers, packers and suppliers in the UK - delivering more than 13 million eggs every week. In control of every stage of the supply chain from day old chick to family fridge, Fairburn’s produce the freshest, British Lion approved eggs for major retail.

Heal Farms began in 1952, when Roger and Vera Heal purchased a 3 acre site and filled it with wooden chicken coops, housing 400 birds. The family business now has 200,000 free range layers as well as 64,000 rearing birds. It produces 275,000 eggs every day and 100 million eggs each year.

These two dynamic and entrepreneurial family businesses are now joining forces with the launch of Heal’s Shropshire Free Range Eggs in the local county.

Tony Heal, Owner of Heal Farms, commented on the new brand launch; “We first supplied eggs to LJ Fairburn & Son Ltd in the last few weeks of 2013. There's an old saying that "timing is everything in life" and this partnership is no exception. They had just set up on their own to supply retailers direct and were looking for like minded producers. Fairburn’s offered us the packing technology and family support we needed to help us expand our business - so in effect we were both looking for each other. Fairburn’s are genuine, fair, well organised and very good at what they do. We are both family farming businesses sharing similar values, work ethics and loyalties, and strive to do the best job we can. The opportunity to work with such a credible business like Fairburn’s and together launch this Shropshire brand is one which we are thrilled to take on. We are now really looking forward to seeing Heal’s Shropshire Free Range Eggs on ASDA supermarket shelves across the county.”

Terri Saunders, Buying Manager at ASDA, commented on the launch; “ASDA is delighted to welcome the Heals Family brand into our Shropshire stores. We love to work with producers who have a genuine passion for what they do. Both the Fairburn and Heal families have an inherent understanding for their industry and take great effort to produce and pack eggs to the very highest welfare and quality standard. The launch of Heal’s Shropshire Free Range Eggs into local ASDA stores within Shropshire took place on the 22nd June. We are thoroughly looking forward to offering our customers in Shropshire eggs that are laid and produced in their home county and presenting a quality product with genuine provenance.”

Sarah Louise Fairburn, Brand and Sales Director at LJ Fairburn & Son Ltd, concluded; “We are so pleased to be launching Heal’s Free Range Eggs and to be working with ASDA on this venture. We have a very good relationship with all of our producers across the UK and value them as though they are an extension to our team. The Heal family are very enthusiastic and forward thinking and their energy towards this project has been incredible. We are all very excited to see our Heal’s Shropshire Free Range Eggs stocked on the shelves in Shropshire!”
