Lamb prices top of agenda at Ceredigion NFU Cymru meeting

Local farmers are invited to the next Ceredigion on-farm NFU Cymru county meeting on Thursday, 13 August 2015, at Blaenyresgair Uchaf, Tynreithyn, Tregaron, by kind permission of the Jones family.

Starting at 11.00am, John Davies, Deputy President of NFU Cymru and Lyndon Edwards, NFU Cymru’s Livestock Board Chairman, will be present to give the Union’s perspective on the current situation in the lamb sector and the Union’s actions to date – including an update from the UK NFU’s Summit.

Livestock farmer and County Chairman for NFU Cymru in Ceredigion, Wyn Evans, will chair the meeting. He said, “The situation many of our lamb producer members are experiencing has become a crisis. The purpose of this meeting is to look at current market prices, the market outlook, marketing and promotion of lamb and the processor-retailer relations.”

Wyn Evans ended, “We are most grateful to the Jones family for hosting this meeting on their farm. We are also fortunate to have both John Davies and Lyndon Edwards present at this meeting to discuss the work of NFU Cymru on lamb prices. I encourage members with any issues relating to the lamb sector in Wales to attend this meeting. It is open to all members and I hope we get a good turnout.”
