Large crowd attends Shropshire farm dispersal auction

A large crowd attended a farm dispersal auction near Shrewsbury on Saturday following the retirement of the owner.

The auction was conducted by auctioneers Halls on behalf of Mr John Reece of Yew Tree Farm, Newton, Berwick, Shrewsbury, where the range of machinery on offer was mainly new, little used and very well maintained.

The top prices were £21,000 for a 2002 Massey Ferguson 4345 tractor, £3,300 for a 1954 Grey Ferguson T20, £7,000 for a 1995 Matbro 404 Teleshift, £1,900 for a Twose 8ft ballast roll, £1,300 for a pair of two-year-old galvanised stables, £1,100 for a Browns mole plough, £1,000 for a Mcconnel 9ft topper and £900 for a Browns 3m aerator.

Auctioneer David Giles, a director of Halls, said the 2002 MF4345 tractor was particularly noteworthy as it was believed to have been one of the last eight built at Banner Lane before the factory was closed. The tractor had only done 712 hours work and was all mechanical with no electronics.
