A group of Loughry students have paid a visit to one of London’s most prestigious exhibitions during a study tour.
Last month, 34 final year Loughry degree students took part in a study tour to London and attended the International Food Exhibition (IFE).
This prestigious event brings together some 1,350 exhibitors and buyers from the retail, foodservice, wholesale and distribution and manufacturing sectors and is attended by some 27,000 visitors making it the largest food exhibition in the UK.
The students had the opportunity to see the vast range of innovative products that are available from not only across the globe, but also from local representatives closer to home, such as Dale farm, Evron Foods Ltd and Good4U.
Before attending IFE, the students made a visit to Harrods Food Hall. There was also an opportunity to listen to Harrods Director of Food, Bruce Langlands, who was interviewed in The Hub at the IFE. He gave an interesting insight into the unique retail environment within Harrods and explained the challenges of meeting the demands from their four main consumer segments: the tourist, the Knightsbridge grocery shopper, the sales shopper and the luxury goods purchasers.
Although it was a busy few days, the students enjoyed taking in the tourist sights along the way.
