Mary Glindon MP has been announced as the new shadow Farming and Rural Communities Minister for the Labour Party.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has been reshuffling his front bench following his re-election as leader, due to mass shadow cabinet resignations following the result of the EU referendum in June.

Miss Glindon is MP for North Tyneside, and has in the past called for a commons debate on the badger cull, which she opposes.

She is a member of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee, and the Communities and Local Government Select Committee.

The role of the Farming Minister looks over the topics of food and farming, animal health and welfare, marine and fisheries, science and innovation, better regulation, lead responsibility for the Rural Payments Agency, FERA, Cefas and the Animal and Plant Health Agency, and deputy for the Secretary of State on Agriculture and Fisheries Council.
