Julie White and Nick Platt of Growing Rural Enterprise have worked together assisting rural businesses in the UK and overseas for over 14 years, from improving farm performance and profitability to diversification projects.

They have announced the launch of their first publication: Marketing and Promotion - 60 Ideas.

"From our direct experience with rural businesses we have compiled a book containing practical and value for money ideas to help businesses improve their marketing" said Julie White, director of Growing Rural Enterprise.

"You can have the best product or service in the world, but unless people know about it, you won't make a business from it. Effective marketing and promotion is the key to business success."

Growing Rural Enterprise have also been awarded funding to work with local farmers to assist with business development plans on a one to one basis.

The project can also help farms engage with ICT to make their businesses more sustainable.

Nick Platt, Director of Growing Rural Enterprise said " some examples of the work undertaken so far include helping a small food producer to design and manage a simple website and getting a group of people together to introduce them to social media and how it can help their business."

The project has been designed to work on a one to one basis or with small groups working together.

It is hoped that the small groups will then carry on working together and supporting each other in the future.

The project will work with between 40 and 60 Staffordshire and Derbyshire farmers before October 2013.
