Monmouthshire farmers invited to quiz prospective MPs

NFU Cymru is urging its members in Monmouthshire to attend a hustings meeting with prospective MPs, from the main political parties for the constituency, ahead of the General Election on 7 May 2015.

Starting at 2.00pm, on Thursday, 23 April 2015, at Pant Farm, Llanvetherine, Abergavenny, through the kindness of NFU Cymru Monmouthshire County Chairman, Gary Yeomans, local farmers will have an opportunity to quiz the prospective MPs on their party’s rural and agricultural policies.

Gary Yeomans, said, “Whilst the majority of farming issues are now determined by devolved Government there are still some important aspects determined by Westminster. With a general election looming and the possibility that we could be facing a very different political landscape, the prospective candidates now have the opportunity to set out their stall and justify why they are the best candidate for Monmouthshire.

“I’m looking forward to welcoming members to Pant Farm and I hope to see a good turnout, so please encourage you friends and neighbours to come along, as it gives our members the opportunity to test the awareness amongst the candidates of the main issues affecting our agricultural industry.”
