NFU Cymru reminds farmers of harvest survey deadline

To help answer important questions about the 2015 harvest NFU Cymru is reminding members to complete this year’s Harvest Survey, before the end of the month.

The survey of combinable crops, available online on the NFU Cymru website:

NFU Cymru is the first source of published data on UK crop production levels for this year.

The survey looks to get as full a picture as possible of the wheat crop by mid-September and the year’s harvest of major combinable crops to date, by early October. It will reflect on issues such as the effect of extreme weather on cereals and oilseeds, the increased winter crop areas and decreased planting of spring crops, and the effect difficult early season conditions have had on crop disease pressure.

NFU Cymru Combinable Crops and horticulture Working Group Chairman, Perkin Evans, said, “Without the information provided by members it would have simply been impossible to generate an accurate estimate in the past as we rely on members’ input in order to maintain our accurate track record with harvest results.

“This year’s survey is online, making it easy for members to record crucial information that goes into painting a picture of the 2015 harvest on a national scale.”

Respondents to this year’s survey will be entered into a draw to win a Cat® S40 rugged smartphone. Launched in late July, this durable device, running the latest version of Android, is the toughest smartphone in the Cat phones portfolio to date. Combining superior rugged protection with a stylish metal-reinforced design, the Cat® S40 is built with outdoor workers in mind. Worth a huge £400, one lucky respondent to the NFU harvest survey will find themselves the lucky owner of this brand-new smartphone.
