NFU success at Grower of the Year awards

NFU members’ are toasting success at this year’s Grower of the Year awards after winning a number of top prizes.

National horticulture board member, Anthony Snell from Herefordshire, was crowned Organic Grower of the Year as well as being highly commended in the Soft Fruit Grower of the Year category.

West Midlands cherry grower Clive Richards, representing Lower Hope Fruit, was named Top Fruit Grower of the Year.

NFU horticulture adviser Dr Chris Hartfield said: "The entrants who made the shortlist in this year’s awards were of an extremely high standard and the winners richly deserve their success. The Grower of the Year awards celebrate the very best in British horticulture and the NFU is happy to support this event."

Meanwhile, the NFU has nominated Majestic Trees to go forward to the International Grower of the Year finals later this year.


The company, based in Hertfordshire, was named Grower of the Year – Ornamentals, and will now represent the UK at Xi’an, China in September.
