National show and sale of Suffolk sheep at Shrewsbury Auction Centre

More than 200 pedigree Suffolk sheep from some of the top breeders in the UK will be going under the hammer at a national show and sale at Shrewsbury Auction Centre later this weekend.

Auctioneers Halls, in conjunction if Straker Chadwick, are hosting the Suffolk Sheep Society’s annual national show and sale on July 24 and 25, with the show being held on Friday, July 24 followed by the sale next day.

The entry includes 213 shearling ram and ram lambs, four shearling ewes and eight ewe lambs

Shrewsbury Auction Centre manager Nick Hyne said the show and sale always generates great interest as it attracts the best breeders across the UK and Ireland.

“This show and sale attracts the cream of the crop in terms of pedigree Suffolk sheep and entries in the shearling ram and ram lamb section are 10 per cent up on last year,” he added.

“We also have a large entry from Ireland, which gives prospective purchasers a great chance to buy top quality sheep with different blood lines.”
