Native Breeds for Modern Needs launched

The Dairy Event and Livestock Show 2008

Native breeds will make their debut in an exhibition at the Dairy Event and Livestock Show, the two day specialist business to business event organised by the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers and to be staged at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire on 17 and 18 September.

The Native Breeds for Modern Needs Exhibition, developed in association with Rare Breeds Survival Trust is dedicated to demonstrating how these cattle, sheep, goats and pigs can be used to produce high quality added value products. The exhibition will also highlight the advantages of using native breeds to manage land on extensive, low cost production systems.

RABDF chief executive, Nick Everington explains: "This year, we are delighted to introduce the Native Breeds for Modern Needs exhibition to promote the benefits of these species to all commercial producers.

"By working with RBST on this exhibition together with other industry representatives including the National Beef Association, the National Sheep Association and the British Goat Society, we have also developed specific exhibitions for three other ruminant sectors, namely beef, sheep and commercial goats, which will broaden the scope of the event to the extent that livestock farmers with multi-species enterprises will be able to obtain all the information they need from this one event."
