New JCB AGRI shovels scoop up more grain

A bigger choice of Grain Shovels is part of an expanded range of JCB AGRI attachments resulting from a more refined design process and use of new materials will help operators get the best performance from their JCB loading and handling machines.

The JCB AGRI range caters for every machine in the extensive JCB materials handling line-up – from the smallest skid-steer and wheeled loaders to the largest Loadall telescopic handlers and Farm Master loading shovels.

“A key advantage of ordering a JCB AGRI attachment with a new handling machine is that it is guaranteed ‘ready to go’,” explains Edward Roach, JCB Agriculture Sales and Marketing Manager. “Ordering a shovel, fork or any other attachment with either a new JCB or for a machine already in service ensures it will be delivered with the correct geometry and hydraulic coupling configuration.

“It will also be fully approved for use with JCB machines and with the correct CE certification,” he adds. “On top of that, there is the reassurance that comes from having replacement parts available 24/7 through the JCB World Parts operation.”

Among the first products to benefit from this focused approach are new Grain Shovels that can be used for handling potatoes, sugar beet and bulk feed ingredients as well as grain.

There are no fewer than 55 new bucket configurations – 29 more than in the previous range – to fit five different backplate couplings, including toolcarrier and pin and cone. Optional toeplates are available on many of the shovels; they are held in place by recessed bolts to avoid crop damage and protect the shell while increasing its rigidity for a long and productive service life. The Grain Shovels range in width from 1830mm to 2600mm and in volume they start at 1.2cu m, suitable for a 2-tonne capacity handler such as the Loadall 520-40 Compact.

At the other end of the scale, the mighty 5.0cu m shovel is used exclusively by the new JCB Loadall 560-80 Agri Plus heavy duty handler, which is designed primarily for repeat cycle loading duties. This shovel in particular has to be built tough to make use of the new Loadall’s 6 tonne lift capacity and the high tear-out forces generated by its Z-bar linkage front end.

All the new JCB AGRI Grain Shovels are constructed from Domex 700MC high tensile steel, which is 17% stronger than the Domex 500 material used in the previous range. Being able to optimise the use of this material without compromising strength and durability has reduced the weight of finished products and improved payloads.

Sizes are from just 1.2cu m to 5.0cu m to suit all JCB handling machines.

Reinforced corners add targeted strength, wear strips on the underside prolong working life and the pressed and tapered side plates help penetrate materials while ensuring a very rigid shell structure. Improved geometry is also designed in – so increased tear-out force and improved retention of loose materials also come as standard.
