New President for British Poultry Veterinary Association

At the Spring Meeting of the British Veterinary Poultry Association in Harrogate, Claire Knott was elected President for the term 2009-2011.

Claire received the BVPA gavel from Paul McMullin, who now becomes Senior Vice-President.

The association was also presented with new stand graphics by Intervet/Schering Plough.

Alan Pearson was elected Junior Vice- President with Barrie Fleming remaining in the role of Honorary Secretary and David Schofield as Honorary Treasurer.

Keith Warner takes over from Alan Pearson as Public Relations Officer.


Committee members Africa Fernandes, Kenton Hazel and Margaret Hardy completed their terms, and were replaced by newly elected committee members Sue Taylor, David Welchman and Andrew Walker.

Claire Knott, incoming President, commented that she felt very honoured to be elected as BVPA President and paid tribute to the sterling work of previous President Paul McMullin and previous Senior Vice President Nigel Horrox in leading and supporting the Association.

The object of the British Veterinary Poultry Association is to facilitate discussion and the exchange of ideas amongst those engaged in the veterinary aspect of poultry disease and husbandry.

The association is made up of 170 members and associate members who are dedicated to facilitate discussion and the exchange of ideas amongst those engaged in the veterinary aspect of poultry disease and husbandry.
