New partnership enhances beef and dairy genetics in Australia

A new partnership marketing an elite range of dairy and beef sires throughout Australia has been formed by Cogent Breeding Ltd and Universal Sires Australia.

The partnership, which continues Cogent’s long-standing commitment to supply British genetics to Australia, will give farmers access to world-leading sires across a diverse range of breeds, in both sexed and conventional semen.

Andy Smith, Australia and Pacific Markets Sales Manager at Cogent, said: “I am delighted that more producers throughout Australia will have access to Cogent’s elite product line up. Cogent was the first company to distribute sexed semen to Australia in 2001 and since then we have combined this technology with some of the most sought after bloodlines, including the best supersire son in the world, Cogent Supershot.

“The partnership with Universal Sires Australia demonstrates Cogent’s commitment to become the leading supplier of high-quality bovine genetics and enables us to provide a superior service alongside a wider range of genomic and proven, market-leading bulls.”

Peter Semmens, owner of Universal Sires Australia commented: “We are committed to the advancement of dairy genetics in Australia. By sourcing genetics from around the world we enable Australian dairy farmers to choose genetics from a wide variety of elite globally proven and genomic bulls. Universal Sires are delighted to accept the appointment as distributor for Cogent and look forward to refocusing the product, aligning it with the needs of today’s discerning dairy farmers.”

Peter also commented: “I have been highly impressed with the vision of Cogent and the support offered for the product towards what is one of the strongest line-ups of both proven and genomic bulls available in the world. Our aim is to use product proven and genomic bulls that suit our customers’ needs, and this is what Cogent can supply.”
