Power and control at your fingertips

For farmers and contractors who spend many hours in a tractor seat, the considerable benefits of the Case IH Multicontroller will not have gone unnoticed. A clear, logical layout of the tractors key controls is placed at the operator's fingertips, creating a comfortable environment that requires the minimum of effort, reducing fatigue and maximising productivity.

Responding to customer praise for the system, which was introduced on the CVX tractor, the Multicontroller is now standard on the new MXU MAXXUM PRO. "It does not take long for the operator to realise the full potential of the Multicontroller," said Michael Gillen, Product Marketing Specialist. "The ergonomic layout is highly intuitive and comfortable. Drivers adopt a relaxed, natural position, which they can retain through a wide range of tractor operations."

The Multicontroller is mounted on the right-hand armrest, moving with the seat and therefore maintaining the optimum positioning. The head of the Multicontroller houses transmission and powershuttle controls, Electronic Hitch Control, Headland Management Control and the control for one remote valve. The arm of the Multicontroller contains flow rate and cycle settings for up to four remote valves, while a joystick to the right of the head unit gives precision control for the first and second remote valves.

The semi-powershift transmissions allow seamless shifting from first to eighth gear and ninth to sixteenth at the touch of a button. A seventeenth gear ratio is available on the MXU 110PRO, 125PRO, and 135PRO models providing a 50kph capability at rated engine speed with the benefit of up to an additional 15hp available to maximise productivity and reduce cycle times. The powershuttle on the head unit is duplicated on the left-hand side of the steering wheel for operator convenience, especially in loader operations.

Headland Management Control offers up to 28 recorded functions, giving the operator a sophisticated implement control system by stepping through a driver-programmed routine, allowing complicated end-of-pass manoeuvres to be handled with ease.

The rear PTO is integrated into the tractor's automated systems, featuring progressive start for high inertia implements and automatic engagement and disengagement. For ease of use, PTO controls are duplicated externally on new, wider fenders that in turn provide full coverage, even when the 650 wide tyres are specified, and help keep the rear of the tractor free from heavy soiling.

The MXU MAXXUM PRO is a tractor for the farming professional, built at the prestigious St Valentin plant and backed by the Case IH dealer network. "This is not a cosmetic enhancement," explains Michael. "The Multicontroller is an essential tool for greater productivity, complemented by the hydraulic push-back hitch, improved fenders, 26hp power increase from the power management for demanding operations, powerful 153l/min hydraulics and an excellent power-to-weight ratio. This high specification puts the MXU MAXXUM PRO at the top of the class in the 100 to 136hp sector."
