The Princess Royal has accepted an invitation to attend the 25th Royal Welsh Winter Fair which will be celebrating the silver jubilee.
It will be her fifth visit to the showground but her first to the Winter Fair.
Having first visited the Royal Welsh Show back in 1981, The Princess Royal is one of many members of the Royal family who are regular visitors to the society’s events, including our patron, HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and HRH The Prince of Wales and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall.
This will be only the second royal visit to the Winter Fair after HRH The Prince of Wales visited and opened the event in 2001. That year the vast majority of agricultural shows were cancelled due to the foot and mouth outbreak.

“The Royal family have been regular supporters of the society and we have been honoured with many visits to our events over the years and as the Winter Fair is celebrating its silver jubilee this year we are happy to be able to welcome HRH The Princess Royal to the event.
“We are busy putting together a packed itinerary for the visit and hope that the visit will undoubtedly make an already atmospheric and festive event even more special in its celebratory year.”
The Royal Welsh Winter Fair will be held on 1 and 2 December 2014 at the Royal Welsh Showground in Llanelwedd, Builth Wells. Along with the usual packed schedule of competitions, classes, exhibitions and displays the two-day event will be packed full of silver jubilee themed celebrations including free late night shopping and a celebratory firework display on the Monday evening.
First staged in 1990 and originally just a modest one-day event, the Royal Welsh Winter Fair is now widely referred to as the finest prime stock show in Europe and has become well established as one of the most popular attractions on the British agricultural show calendar. Leading stockmen from all over the UK will compete for the top accolades in the classes and competitions. Just shy of 30,000 of visitors attend the annual two-day event each year.
